Hi! I'm answering a few more questions that came in about the course "the Weekend Website."
My biggest question would be: What are the top 5 mistakes in setting up a website?
ANSWER: There are so many that it would be hard to mention all of them or find what the biggest ones are! But just on top of my head, some obvious mistakes come to mind:
1- Not having a way to build your mailing list on every single page of your site.
2- Not having anything to sell.
3- Amateurish design such as colored background that are hard to read.
4- Not having copy on your website.
5- Not having your own e-mail newsletter.
Once my web site is created and "up for business", how much TIME does it typically take to maintain the web site with updates? I realize the business aspect itself with take some time, but how much time does the actual web site take for the webmaster? I see many web sites with a full or part time webmaster, and that makes me wonder if the time required is more than I could handle right now.
ANSWER: Your first website will be very simple. It’s something a webmaster can do in less than one hour, or that you could easily learn to do yourself. Most of your time will be spent on the actual content that you will send to your mailing list and attracting visitors to your website, rather than on the actual website. So the time spent to work on your site will be very minimal in the first 2-3 months.
Once you start to sell your own products, you will have to put up a web page to sell the product, and that will require some hours of work.
With the system that I propose, you won’t be paying a lot for a webmaster or won’t be doing that yourself until you’ve reached the point of making enough and wanting to expand. At that point, it may be worth it to hire a part-time or full-time webmaster.
Why should I take your course if I already have a webmaster?
ANSWER: A webmaster is someone who will put up websites and make changes to webpages. It’s not someone who will teach you how to make money on the Internet.
In fact, if they really knew how to make money on the Internet, why would they be paid $15 or $30 per hour doing this job, when they could be earning 100K or more per year with their own website?
The webmaster is a technician — a very useful one! But in order to make money online, you have to be more than a technician. You have to develop your entrepreneurial mind and educate yourself on marketing and how to really make money on the Internet.
What's the easiest software for Mac?
ANSWER: It doesn’t really matter whether you have a Mac or a PC as most softwares are available in both platforms.
Do I need to invest in a website designer to make this happen?
ANSWER: It’s not necessary to hire a website designer to create a website, although adding graphics to your website is a nice touch. If you’re budget is limited, you can certainly skip that step completely. I know several people who have NO graphics on their website and earn over 100K per year with it.
On the Internet, words do sell MORE than pictures, no matter what the saying says.
However, it’s nice to have some graphics as it adds some personality to your site. For this, you can either learn to do it yourself or hire someone about $100 to $300 to do it (depending on the project). In my course I give you my best recommendations for getting the best graphic work done at the best price.
There are so many people out there telling you there program is the best and is hard to believe in any of them what makes yours so much better. What is the difference between your scheme and other schemes?
ANSWER: It’s true that there’s a lot of people out there who are considered to be “Internet Marketing Gurus” and who sell their own courses on how to make money with your own website.
I know them because I have purchased many of these courses, gone to their seminars and subscribe to their paid membership programs.
The main difference between me and them, my system and theirs is that I’ve built my knowledge by selling information and building websites that are not related to “making money on the Internet.” Since 1998 I have been earning a living with the topic of “raw foods” and “alternative health” and I’ve waited almost 10 years to actually release a product explaining how I make a living that way.
Most of the Internet gurus are copywriters and they’ve never sold a single product or created a single website outside of the topic of “making money.” That means their experience is very different, and even though they claim that you can earn a living with other topics that they call “niche markets”, they don’t rely on it themselves for their source of income.
Personally, I have started teaching this material because it’s a passion to me. I have a blast doing it and I also feel I can contribute a lot by giving my own perspective on it. I do not need to be making these products on “making money” because I make enough with my raw food and health websites.
The other thing that’s very different with my system is that I have a very analytical mind when it comes to this stuff, and I always try to organize information in the way that makes the most sense. I’ve done that with my “raw food” products because I felt that when I wrote my books on the subject, there were no clear guides that existed on how to eat a raw food diet. So I wrote it.
I’m doing the same here with this program. I’m creating this product because I believe that there’s no simple step-by-step system that explains the most important aspects of earning a living with your website.
I have looked at all other systems and come to the conclusion that I needed to create my own. My goal is to create the kind of course that I personally WISHED someone had handed to me or sold me several years ago, when I got started.
A course that tells you step-by-step, exactly what to do to succeed with your own website even if you’re starting from scratch. This is what the Weekend Website is about. Showing you what works, how to do it step by step and removing all of the confusing and unnecessary information that you don’t need anyway.
