According to an article published in one Health & Fitness sections of the About.com Site, skipping exercise for two days in a row has bad effects on health! (Click here to read the article)
It makes sense that we're meant to live an active life. Being sedentary was not the norm for human beings, even in the Western world, until just a few decades ago.
My commitment now is to exercise everyday. Okay, once in a while a day off, when I feel I need it.
I never had a session of exercise, either biking, a long walk, hiking, yoga, weight lifting, or running — that I regreted. Even though I might not have felt like doing it when I started, I never thought to myself, "Jeez, I shouldn't have gone for that bike ride" or "That was such a bad idea to take that Ashtanga yoga class!"
On the contrary, I felt much better afterwards.
It seems to be a basic human need to exercise everyday.
Since I've been doing this, my hunger is way up! Earning your meals is a concept that makes sense.
Is it any wonder that hunger is widely recognized as a sign of health? Lack of appetite is widely recognized as a sign of ill health. And the best way to cultivate true hunger (as discussed in my book the Raw Secrets -- Click here for More Information on THE RAW SECRETS) is to engage in vigorous exercise.
Thanks for the link! Sedentary lifestyles are what are killing us. Epidemiologists agree that if everybody just got in 30 minutes of walking or other exercise per day we'd have 30% less type II diabetes, heart disease, cancer, etc. So ridiculous that we'd rather pop a pill than just MOVE for 30 more minutes a day. I just returned from 2 weeks in Europe, where it took zero effort to log 20,000 steps per day on my pedometer as I got around using the train, bus, etc. without a car. When I'm at my day job in the US, as a car commuter my daily baseline steps are under 5000. While in Europe, I enjoyed the nice hotel breakfast and had a lovely big supper - and lost 1 pound per week, same as with intensive dieting back home. Movement matters!!!!!
